The Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission is now accepting applications for both the TALENT ATTRACTION PROGRAM and the HEALTH OCCUPATIONS STATE LOAN REPAYMENT PROGRAM.
TALENT ATTRACTION PROGRAM - Application deadline is April 30
Purpose - Encourage recent graduates to work in targeted, hard-to-fill occupations and live in the Virginia Tobacco Region for a minimum of 2 years while providing them up to $12,000 annually in student loan repayments. Individuals approved for this incentive will be required to maintain full time employment in a specified occupation and be civically engaged in their community.
Over 150 graduates have been awarded to date!
Health Occupations State Loan Repayment Program - Application deadline is March 31
Purpose - The Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission has also partnered with Virginia Department of Health who currently manages the Health Occupations State Loan Repayment Program. This program targets hard-to-fill health occupations in the Tobacco Region. $140,000 in loan repayments are allowed over a 4 year period in specified healthcare occupations. Individuals approved for this program will be required to work in federally designated Health Profressional Shortage Areas within the Virginia Tobacco Region, have to be board eligible or certified, and will be required to live in the Virginia Tobacco Region as well.
